Wedding Reception Games and Contests
1. The Shoe Game
2. Getting to Know You
Start a high energy song and instruct party guests to walk randomly around the dance floor. When the music stops, guests must choose a dance partner who happens to be standing close to them. The music will start again for twenty seconds or so, giving both parties time to mix it up and shake their tail feathers. When the DJ announces a switch up, participants should walk randomly around the floor again. The cycles will repeat every 20 or 30 seconds until the song ends!
3. The Cake Smash Competition
Distribute tiny slips of paper and instruct guests to place a vote for the person they would most like to target. Should it be the bride or the groom? Collect ballots in an empty water pitcher and tally the results after dinner. The loser gets a face full of cake!
4. Girls Against Boys Karaoke
In this contest, the bride and her attendants will compete against the groom and his men. Each team gets one shot at the microphone. Songs may be rehearsed beforehand, or they may be done impromptu style. After both performances have ended, the DJ will ask guests to cast a vote by a show of applause.
5. The Harlem Shake
Back in 2012, The Harlem Shake ruled the airways and millions of people uploaded videos of themselves busting random moves on dance floors all over the world. It didn't take long for the trend to spread to weddings. To encourage dance floor madness, try doing the Harlem Shake at your reception. For shock value and rampant laughter, try it at the church, as shown in the video below.
